Of course, this opposition to the Islamic Revolution wasn’t something that we didn’t expect. From the beginning, we didn’t expect the enemy to reconcile themselves with the [Islamic] Revolution. From the beginning, it was clear that such a thing wouldn’t happen: “This is what Allah and his Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true” [33:22]. It was clear that the likes of America, the Soviet Union, and the other Arrogant Powers of that day would confront and stand against an Islamic Revolution with these characteristics, and that was exactly what happened.
